ATO was founded by Otis Allan Glazebrook, Erskine Mayo Ross and Alfred Marshall at the Virginia Military Institute in 1865.ξ The pledge pin was designed Otto W. Carpenter, Beta Eta Chapter at Ohio Wesleyan University, and approved at the 1896 Congress.ξ My guess is that this is a very very early version as it is a turquoise blue in color.ξ On a color chart this closely resembles Opaque Sky Blue (5207) or Caribbean Blue (5105) just to help you out on such a substantial purchase.ξ I wonder if National HQ has one this old in the archives!?ξ The pin has the three stars and crescent.ξ The top portion measures 3/8" (9.8mm) and has a safety pin poking on one side to catch into cloth.ξ The screwback looks original to the piece and is slightly larger.ξ I found this while pin hunting up in Charlottesville, VA.ξ There is some minor enamel wear to this pin as evidenced in the pictures.ξ I know we have a very old pledge pin at my GLO's HQ and it is one of my favorites.ξ

The pin and clasp are in good, original, and wearable condition.
